About the AIR trio and Program:
The project, “Soundscape of Our Present Minds” was originally conceived in 2014 and a series of compositions were written for a quartet featuring violin, saxophone, percussion and piano, and were especially revised for this AIR trio for this concert. These compositions are meant to capture current mindsets of performers through the structured musical score which combines traditional notations with Wadada Leo Smith’s Ankhrasmation language, successfully capturing this challenging year 2020. Along with extended and prepared techniques of each instruments, performers will go beyond the conventional role of each instruments, converse and challenge each other to create one soundscape which will represent our collective set of minds.
The fourth in the program, “But Not Alone” has composed by Motoko Honda in this August, 2020 for this special occasion, dedicating to all of us, and is a world premiere.
PROGRAM/Soundscape of Our Present Minds:
“Walk”, Motoko Honda 2014 (revised for piano, guitar and percussion 2020)
“Presence”, Motoko Honda 2014 (revised for prepared piano, guitar and percussion 2020)
“Luminescence”, Motoko Honda 2014 (revised for prepared piano, guitar and percussion 2020)
